That’s why we’ve have exclusively partnered with the Bear Grylls Survival Academy, to bring your group Kids Vs. Wild, an outdoor survival and adventure program!

Kids Vs. Wild offers both a fun and educational experience through challenging and interactive activities set in nature. Led by a team of highly trained survival experts, participants will learn teamwork and self-discipline, as well as build on confidence and self-esteem. Not only will they have fun with their peers, but they will also gain the skills to survive in the wild – Bear Grylls style!

Your missions

Take on four 60-minute survival missions, each operated by our team of survival experts. Each mission is completely supervised and aims to teach kids how to think like a true survivor, all while having fun with their peers.

Protection: Hide to survive

Did you know that you can only survive for 3 hours in freezing or boiling hot temperatures? Protection is the number one priority in a survival situation, but could you protect yourself in the wild? This survival course is all about immersing kids in a survivor’s mentality. They’ll learn basic survival skills like how to keep warm, blend into their surroundings to hide from predators, keep sheltered from the harsh Australian weather and track wildlife using lifesaving stalking skills.

Rescue: Get out alive

Whether you’re quick on your feet or a fast thinker, knowing how to get yourself out of difficult situations is critical when surviving in our natural habitat. This hour long mission will take kids through the three most fundamental areas in helping them make their way back to safety through the rugged Australian bushland. They’ll learn how to: Tie the three most essential knots every survivalist needs to know, navigate rugged terrain through teamwork and communication and commando crawl across a rope with agility and precision.

Water: Navigate the island

Being stranded and alone is one thing, but being lost on top of that is another, especially in a survival situation! Do you have what it takes to navigate the island? In this mission, kids will learn the uses of pacing’s and plant growth as essential navigational aids that will help them find their way out of a tricky situation. Instructors will then lead an orienteering course for kids to combine everything they’ve learnt. Kids will finish the hour-long mission with a dash to the finish line just in time to receive their award.

Food: Feast in the wild

In this mission, we’ll be preparing your kids for the basic tools and knowledge they need to ward off a hungry belly when out in the bush. Our survival experts will teach kids how to ‘capture’ their food, while also learning the specific skills of fire lighting methods, so when it comes to the all-important cooking part, they will be the Head Chef of their very own bush tucker kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

Our group reservations team will be able to tailor a group package to suit your style and budget.

How long is each mission?

Each mission will run for 60 minutes and guests are asked to arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes prior to the activity start time.

How old do children need to be to participate?

Bear Grylls Survival Academy is suitable for children aged 8 years or older.

Can adults participate?

Yes, adults can join in!

Do children need to complete all 4 missions?

No, each course is run individually, however we recommend completing all 4 to become recognised as a Bear Grylls Survival Academy survivor!

Allergies and dietary requirements

As this activity is performed in the outdoors, allergens must be considered for each child. It is important that all participant allergies are communicated at the time of booking.

Please note: whilst every effort is made to cater to allergies and special requirements, some components of the mission cannot be changed.

Will the missions be supervised?

Yes, each session will be operated and supervised by the mission Instructor. NRMA Parks and Resorts recognises and acknowledges the importance of recruiting the right people to work with children.
As such, we have processes in place including policies and procedures to maintain compliance with Workplace Laws including Working with Children Laws, to ensure that all employees and contractors, who fall within the definition of Child Related Work hold a valid Working With Children Check. How many participants are in a mission?

Please speak directly with the Groups Sales team at [email protected] to have a tailored package built for your size group.

What happens if there is poor weather?

Depending on the mission we will look to make alternative arrangements to run the mission as planned or reschedule to another time.

Will Bear Grylls be there?

Bear Grylls has designed these missions, however, will not be at the park. Training has however been provided to our Survival Instructors by the Bear Grylls Survival Academy.

What days do the missions run?

The program runs year round, with missions being done on weekends outside of school holidays and every day during school holiday periods. Please refer to park websites for specifics on mission times. Programs are subject to change. Your Groups bookings manager will be able to work with you to select a suitable time within the Groups agenda.

Will children need to bring anything for the activities?

All equipment will be supplied during the activities. Although, we ask that all participants arrive with a hat, enclosed footwear, drink bottle and a sense of adventure! Don’t forget to apply sunscreen prior to arrival.

Will my child be leaving the holiday park?

No, all activities are run within the property.

Do I need to sign my child in?

Yes, the parent or guardian must sign their child (or children) in and out of the program.
