NRMA Darlington Beach Holiday Resort on Arrawarra Beach just north of is the perfect place to base yourself for a surfing holiday with a great beach break immediately in front of the resort and a choice of other beaches within a short drive.

One of the best things about surfing in this part of the world is that you’ll have most of the beaches virtually to yourself, especially mid-week.

Directly out the front of NRMA Darlington Beach Resort is Darlington Beach, or 'Darlo' as the locals call it. It’s known for its fun hollow waves for short rides of 50 to 100 metres.

Just a few minutes down the road is Arrawarra Beach, famous for its longboard break off Arrawarra Headland.

Take a four-minute drive north of the resort to find the secret surf spot of Corindi Beach, known by surfers as Whailies.

Just two minutes north of Corindi Beach is Red Rock. Rather than heading to the main beach at Red Rock, surfers head to Red Rock Reef which is accessed by a sandy track off Red Rock Road (you’ll need a 4WD). Beginners can head to the main part of Red Rock Beach to enjoy a sweeping beach break and a fun ride near the headland.

Heading south from NRMA Darlington Beach Resort, towards Coffs Harbour and Sawtell are numerous beaches and great surfing spots.

Six minutes down the road to the south is the consistent point break at Mullaway. It’s a popular spot, year-round – especially at this time of year (autumn leading into winter).

A further six minutes away is Woolgoola Main Beach. It’s fun for shortboard riding and the patrolled beach makes it a good spot to learn. More experienced surfers might enjoy the challenge of a bigger wave at Woolgoolga Back Beach.

Heading towards Coffs Harbour, you’ll find Diggers Beach which is popular with longboard riders and standup paddlers.

In Coffs Harbour, you’ll find North Wall on the northern side of the jetty. It offers a great right-hand break, especially in a big northerly swell.

South of the jetty (near the fishing club) you’ll find Gallows Beach. Best place to access the surf is via a well-timed jump off the rocks in between sets.

Just beyond Coffs Harbour, and still only 35 mins from your base at NRMA Darlington Park Holiday Resort is Sawtell Beach. It offers consistent fun surf most of the year round. When the swell is larger, a sandbank forms between the reef and Sawtell Island (at the southern end of the beach) to provide long, fast rides.

In between surfing these epic breaks, you can take time out to relax and enjoy the 110 acres of coastal paradise at NRMA Darlington Beach Holiday Resort. The resort is a nature lover’s paradise with an abundance of wildlife including friendly kangaroos.
