What’s on this Easter

Create some treasured memories this Easter and school holidays

Famous for its stunning beaches and epic theme parks, the Gold Coast is the ultimate holiday destination with plenty to see and do for the whole family. Coinciding with this year’s Easter break and school holidays, Gold Coast is lifting the wow-factor even further with some amazing events including the Games in April and a ringside seat to a natural phenomenon that won’t reoccur until 2037.

The Games in April

Taking place over 11 days from April 15, sporting venues across the Gold Coast will host over 70 different nations and territories and 6,600 athletes. Watch some of the world’s top sportspeople compete at over 18 different sports, including sports making their debut at this year’s Games including Beach Volleyball, Para Triathlon and the Women’s Rugby Sevens.  There will be extra public transport available near NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort for the event duration so you can join in the party.

Bleach Festival

In collaboration with the Games, Bleach Festival takes place from March 29 to April 15 offering twelve action-packed days of 32 free music events, theatre, circus, dance, visual arts and film at various locations around the Gold Coast.

Blue Moon

On March 31, grab a ring-side seat near the Gold Coast Broadwater to watch a “once in a blue moon” natural phenomenon; the second blue moon we’ll experience this calendar year. A blue moon is when there are two full moons in the calendar month.  What makes this blue moon special is that we’ve already had a blue moon this year (at the end of January).  This phenomenon of dual blue moons in the same year, won’t occur again March 31, 2037, so grab a blanket and your camera and head up to the Gold Coast Broadwater (in close proximity to NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort) for a great viewing spot.

The award-winning NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort features a range of affordable family holiday options and self-contained studio cabins from just $99 per night.  There is also powered sites perfect for caravanning and camping.
