Port Macquarie is full of fantastic attractions waiting to be explored. The Billabong Koala Wildlife Park is perfect for those wanting an up close and personal wildlife experience. The local icon Shrek, a 4.6-meter-long salt water croc is a must-see, along with the friendlier koalas that call the park home. For wildlife in its natural environment, Port Macquarie is a great spot for Whale Watching. Experience the majestic humpbacks migrating along the coastline, with cruises frequently departing the harbor between May and November. For spectacular coastal views a stop at Taking Point Lighthouse. Built in 1879, the lighthouse sits atop a rocky headland and provides panoramic views along the Mid-North Coast.

From fashion, accessories, jewellery and homewares there is something for everyone. The arthouse industries located in the centre of town is a beautiful glass studio offering handmade gifts, clothing and artwork. Port Macquarie also offers a lively nightlife. The best spots in town are Flow Bar, a beer garden and restaurant during the day and live music venue on weekends, the Beach House, a classic pub that offers DJs and live banks on weekends and Zebu Bar and Grill, a cocktail bar that also serves up live music and bar nibbles.

It’s delicious fresh fruit and veg is a taste of the best of Port Macquarie. The region also offers many wineries, with cellar doors and kitchens serving up mouth-watering creations.

Walking and cycle tours

Discover the spectacular coastlines of Port Macquarie on the coastal walk located in the Sea Acres National Park. One of the few locations where the forest meets the ocean, start the walk at Town Beach before winding along the coast past Flagstaff, Rocky Beach lookout and Harry’s lookout to Sea Acres. One in the National Park stroll along the enchanting Sea Acres Rainforest Boardwalk or drop into the Rainforest Centre while you’re there to take part in a guided Aboriginal cultural heritage tour. If you’re looking to cycle, make sure to take a ride along the Foreshore cycling track or head to the Port Macquarie Urban Mountain Bike Park for some off roading.
