To get you excited for your South Coast getaway, here are some of our favourite things to do in Broulee and the surrounding areas.

1. Hike Broulee Island Nature Reserve

Explore the natural beauty of Broulee Island on the scenic 4km walking trail starting south of Broulee’s main beach. Spanning 43 hectares, Broulee Island is a nature reserve protected by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Wander among native mangroves and be captivated by the vibrant yellow tea trees, discovering the area's unique flora and fauna.

2. Fish the local hotspots

If you love fishing, you’ll feel spoilt for choice in Broulee. Local hotspots include the Tomaga River, Candlagan Creek, Salt Water Creek and Malua Bay. Depending on the season, you might land a flathead or salmon. Fishing is restricted in some areas around Broulee and a recreation fishing license is required in NSW, so check before casting your line.

4. Snorkel at Cadlagan Creek

Cadlagan Creek, located in Mossy Point, is a family favourite spot for snorkelling. It’s a richly diverse marine ecosystem home to a dizzying array of fish, rays and even the odd turtle. Its shallow waters are usually sheltered from harsh ocean conditions, making it ideal for beginners. Remain vigilant, however, because the current can be quite strong where the creek meets the sea. Mossy Point is a gorgeous spot for a picnic, so pack lunch and make a day of it.

And for those looking to dive further afield, nearby Guerilla Bay and Tomakin Cove are well worth the drive.

6. Feast on oysters from your kayak

Join a farmgate tour with a difference when you embark on an oyster tasting kayak tour. The Clyde River is home to some of the most productive oyster farms on the South Coast, its pristine waters creating mind-blowingly delicious oysters. There are various local operators that offer this style of tour, and most will include a chat with an oyster farmer and the chance to taste freshly shucked oysters.
