1. Clyde River National Park
This national park rises from the mouth of the Clyde River and has over 9km of riverfront bushland. You can explore the many estuaries by kayak or boat and take in the forest-covered hills, mangroves and salt marshes. Pack a picnic and make your way to Holmes Lookout where you can get a bird’s eye view of the area.
2. Cycling & Mountain Biking
For some fun on two wheels, enjoy the Batemans Bay Cycleway – a relaxed 18km roundtrip ride along the waterfront, running from Corrigans Beach all the way to Myamba Parade. Here, you can jump off and take a stroll through the wetlands along the Cullendulla Boardwalk. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes along the route for a pit stop. For a more adrenaline-pumping ride, head to the Batemans Bay BMX Track. Children will love trying their racing skills on the courses and watching the pros.
For mountain biking enthusiasts, the new Mogo Trails are a must-do. Designed to cater to a range of skill levels, this extensive network offers everything from flowing beginner loops to technical downhill runs through stunning natural bushland. The trails are quickly becoming a hub for riders from across the state, with purpose-built features that make every ride memorable. 3. Snorkelling trail
To see the world from another angle, head 12km north of Batemans Bay to Maloneys Beach where the snorkel trail begins. In addition to snorkelling, you can sun yourself at the grassy reserve and have a picnic or BBQ. Then, travel 5km south of Batemans Bay to Sunshine Cove Beach. Look out for red morwong, luderick, bream, lobsters, gropers and abalone among the rocky reefs and seaweed beds. Finally, travel further south to Guerilla Bay to discover the marine life living amongst its ancient rock formations.
4. Meander through the markets
If searching through bric-a-brac, antiques and collectables is your version of heaven, head to the Batemans Bay Sunday Markets. They're held every 1st & 3rd Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm on the waterfront on Clyde St. Moruya Markets are on every Saturday. This is your chance to find your next treasure while enjoying live music, fresh food and homemade arts and crafts. There is also an all-abilities playground on site to keep the young ones entertained.
5. Oyster tasting and seafood
The fresh clean waters of the Clyde River have put it on the map as a world-class oyster producer. You can find Sydney Rock, Pacific and native Angasi oysters, either at a restaurant or direct from the oyster farms, such as the Pearly Oyster Bar and Farm and the Farm Gate and Oyster Shed on Wray Street. You can even do a kayak tour through working oyster farms. In addition to oysters, fresh fish and seafood abound in Batemans Bay. Stop in at one of the many seafood restaurants to try the catch of the day.
6. Go surfing
No matter your ability, there are many options for surfing along the Batemans Bay coast. The aptly named Surf Beach, as well as Denham’s Beach, are good for beginner to intermediate surfers. North Durras has a good reef break and Malua Bay a powerful ocean break for more experienced surfers. Other good spots are South Durras, McKenzies and Rosedale. Pink Rocks north of Broulee Island sometimes has barrels suited to experienced surfers.
7. Batemans Bay Heritage Museum
For history buffs, an old courthouse from 1905 houses the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum. Here, you can learn about the local timber industry dating back some 200 years, as well as the ancient geology and Indigenous heritage of the area.
8. Walking
Spend some time in nature and follow one of the many walking tracks in and around Batemans Bay. For advanced hikers, the Corn Trail is a good challenge. It’s a rugged 15km hike that follows the route of the traders and their packhorse teams from the 1830s. For a gentler option, head to Cullendulla Nature Reserve to do the Square Head Tracks 1 and 2, Mangrove Walk or Cullendulla Beach Track. A great new addition is the Munjip Trail, which begins just down from Batemans Bay park and offers a scenic and accessible walk close to town. About 20 minutes away, you’ll also find Murramarang National Park, with a range of walking trails from as short as 15 minutes all the way up to 5 hours long.
9. Beaches
There are many fantastic beaches to choose from within a few minutes’ drive of Batemans Bay. Corrigans Beach has a large sand area for sunbathing and beach activities. Its gentle waves are perfect for swimming and water sports. It also has parking, facilities and an all-abilities playground. Surf Beach is another great spot for swimming or splashing about and is patrolled at peak times. Broulee Beach is popular and good for snorkelling and swimming. For a less developed and more remote beach experience, head to McKenzies Beach where you’ll find a smaller stretch of sand nestled in nature.
10. Batemans Bay Sculpture Walk
For a touch of culture, and a nice open-air experience, take an amble along the Batemans Bay Sculpture Walk. Starting at 7 Clyde Street and heading along the Mia Murra Walk and Beach Road towards the marina, you’ll come across eight seaside sculptures. These are part of the annual Sculpture for Clyde event and a new sculpture gets added each year.
11. Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens
On a sunny day, the botanic gardens are the perfect place for a picnic and a wander through the 42 hectares of greenery. Admire the 2,000 species of flora and take a look at the Living Plant Collection of regional species and the Herbarium Collection of over 14,000 dried plant specimens collected over the last 30 years.
12. Catalina Golf Course

A good option for a relaxing afternoon is a lunch cruise on the Clyde River. The cruise makes a stop in the tiny, historic village of Nelligan, famed for its connection to the notorious Clarke Brothers.
