The Tasmanian government has announced that two new Spirit of Tasmania vessels will commence operation in 2021.
The new ships will be 30 percent bigger than the current vessels and will bring an additional 500 visitors, 115 passenger vehicles and 85 freight trailers each trip.
NRMA Parks and Resorts CEO Paul Davies said this is great news for Tasmania’s caravan and camping industry.
“Tasmania is known as one of the best road touring areas in Australia so the extra capacity will come just in time to meet the growing demand for the popular destination,” said Mr Davies.
NRMA Parks and Resorts operates 38 parks and resorts across Australia including the Tasmanian Tourism Award winning NRMA Port Arthur Holiday Park on the Tasman Peninsula, one and a half hours from Hobart.
